We are a “cash-and-carry” primary care practice. Our costs are transparent, and you will know what you are paying for your primary care upfront without having to think about deductibles, copays, and additional bills down the line.
Unlike most other healthcare practices (including many concierge practices), we do not take insurance or Medicare. This frees us to focus solely on providing the highest quality service without the administrative and documentation burdens imposed by insurance or Medicare.
When you first see us, we’ll delve into your personal and family medical history. This allows us to understand your current health status and anticipate and prevent future issues. We desire to be a practice for generations of family members, providing solutions that enhance your personal quality of life and the long-term livelihood of your loved ones.

All Memberships
24/7 call coverage with Dr. Wu
Longer visit times than a typical primary care physician offers
(20, 40, 60 minutes options)
We will not double-book patients, so waiting room time should be minimal
Memberships allow us to decrease our panel size and improve patient access and the quality of the service we can provide
Epic EMR, communication through the patient portal
We’ll handle insurance prior authorization for medication, radiology studies, etc., in a timely fashion
(no waiting 2-4 weeks from the time of your visit for paperwork to be submitted)
Labs are offered at extremely reasonable cash prices or our lab vendor can file a claim with your insurance provider

About Us / Staff
Joseph Wu, M.D.
Dr. Wu is the founder and lead physician at Brightmark Health. Dr. Wu received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Michigan and UAB and is board-certified in Internal Medicine.
He comes to Brightmark Health with over 20 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient internal medicine in Birmingham, most prominently at Simon-Williamson Clinic based on the Princeton Baptist campus. His specific clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, dementia, and preventive medicine. Dr. Wu has always been a physician who provided personalized and compassionate care. Through Brightmark Health, he can give you his complete attention in an unhurried fashion without the limitations or barriers that come with insurance companies and other healthcare entities. He is truly a friend to his patients, a refreshing doctor who can and does truly listen.
